Diya is Duke University’s South Asian Student Association

Diya is the Hindi/Urdu word meaning “light”, and every year Duke Diya seeks to shed light on the culture, traditions and values of the South Asian community. Duke Diya represents the six major nations of South Asia:

  • India
  • Pakistan
  • Bangladesh
  • Bhutan
  • Nepal
  • Sri Lanka

As a university organization, Diya strives to promote awareness and appreciation of South Asian culture and tradition through political, cultural and historical (we have already publishes our study about Sanskrit), social, and community service events on campus. We also aim to provide opportunities for Diya members to meet and share a strong common collegiate experience.

DIYA IN THE NEWS

More than 100 Duke University students fought hunger by packing meals with Stop Hunger Now on Friday, October 16, 2015 as part of the first event of Diya’s Social Change Through Service Initiative in collaboration with 12 other student groups on campus. The students’ efforts will provide over 10,000 meals to orphanages, school feeding-programs and crisis-relief groups around the world.

Special Gratitude

Our special thanks to the person who helped us to write our articles devoted to casino entertainment. This is Katie Isaacson and she has her own blog about Microgaming casinos with a lot of rewiews written by herself.

This blog inspired us to make a special block about betting houses and its games with detailed information and rules to raise students awareness and motivate to play responsible.

With Katie’s help we were able to create a set of posts about Canadian online casinos and the most popular game among all our students of Duke University – blackjack. We will consider not only Microgaming, but other popular software providers, also – available bonuses (this feature is very useful for students 🙂 ) and payment methods if you play for money. Wait for our regular updates!

We wish Katie a lot of inspiration and hope to host new visitors on our website!
